For our site in Dendermonde, we are looking for a Commodity Manager – Plastic resin, parts and Chemicals

What will you do for us?

The role of the Commodity Manager is to define and execute Europe and North America commodity strategy for the assigned commodities. By leading the local team and being coordinated by our Global Commodity Manager, you are responsible and accountable for local strategies and supplier management. By taking the lead for the regions, you will create and develop excellent relationships and establish strong partnerships with key suppliers that must help the realization of sustainable savings and reduction of total landed cost. Regular travel and on-site presence at suppliers will be key.

Key areas of accountability:

  • Regional Purchasing Strategy
    • Develop/implement the purchasing strategy for direct material to maximize supply chain efficiency and ensure strategy execution.
    • Contribute to global purchasing strategy & policy establishment and process optimization.
  • Local Commodity management
    • Maintain a panel of suppliers for commodities.
    • Participate in the definition and the implementation of the purchasing panel policy for assigned commodities
    • Lead supplier selection according to Group criterias
    • In lead to negotiate Legal contract and support on Supplier manual acceptance by suppliers.
  • Responsible for supplier performance management
    • Ensure a regular follow-up of the supplier’s perfomance with the SQE, Operation, R&D and Purchasing Project teams
    • Ensure regular follow up of the suppliers in relation with the commercial performance
    • Set corrective measures when suppliers performance deviations happen to converge with budget
    • First level escalation for internal functional regarding one supplier.
    • Define and implement a supplier’s optimization plan
  • Supplier and market intelligence
    • Create and update supplier profiles
    • Search the market to find potential suppliers complying with busniess trend, panel, commercial and cost model requirements
    • Propose suppliers short list for RFQ to test competitiveness of potiential supplier and current suppliers
  • Responsible for Risk management
    • Regularly monitor supplier risk parameters
    • Monitorglobal supplier capacity and tool warranty
    • Maintain a red list of suppliers at risk
    • Set up and deploy an action plan to eliminate risks
  • Support the Commodity Buyer on new projects

What will you bring to PSS?

  • Academic / Professional Qualification: Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Expertise/Skills: 5-8 years’ experience within purchasing or/and automotive sector
  • Language skills: Excellent proficiency in English (oral & written)
  • Personal Attributes: Awareness, critical thinking, ethical/integrity, accountable teamwork, communication skills, and milestone experience.
  • Knowledge of SAP is a plus
